Here is the HT-Nielsen fiction top 10, India's answer to New York Times bestsellers list. It seems people are more into pop-culture.
What are your thoughts on the bestseller lists? Do you follow them?

I do follow the one at New York Times. This one..... oh well.... I haven't read almost half of them and doubt if I ever will.

I have always been meaning to read Savi Sharma, Sudeep Nagarkar and Ravinder Singh... Not because I have great expectations, but just to see how this rapidly-spawned genre varies from author to author. I didn't like Chetan Bhagat because of the predictable and depressing stories... But I usually finish his books in one go, so I give that man full points for keeping it engrossing enough. As for Dan Brown, not a single book of his has disappointed me so far!

I have read only 4 from this list above. I agree with @Mousetrap re: Chetan Bhagat. His books are not much but he keeps you engrossed till the end. You read his books just because they are around. Wouldn't buy one! His only book I liked best was Five Point Someone.
I invariable go through the NYT best-sellers list not necessarily reading all. But just to see if anything interests me.

I do follow the NY best sellers list just to see which author is in top 10 and choose from that. I do read Indian authors and one among them is Chetan Bhagat. He is not my fav but I do read his books in one go.HT Nielsen is something new and will be following from here on.

I have only read one Chetan Bhagat book... One Indian Girl. And was rather put off. Have not read any other. Maybe it was a wrong pick to start with his books.

Yeah, wrong one to pick. You can make out he kind of gives his own rating - see this:

5.someone
3 Mistakes of my life
2 States
½ Girlfriend

This is just as a joke. In between he had One night @call center, Revolution 2020.

I wonder what his next one will be titled? A quarter for the road?

LOL at the self rating. The man seems obsessed with numerals.

My bad. Should have picked a different book, but then most of them have a movie version.
