What is the link between hours online shown in th eprofike and the actual time. Spent onsite. I. Have been online for more than 3 hours yet it is still showing zero. Also what are the implications  since actual participation cannot be neasured just by the time apent online

I believe newbies should be allowed to post books even if they aren't allowed to view other books / resources until they reach the definitive stage (10 posts?) since they might have been a higher level contributor in erstwhile forums. It will help in adding resources / books as well as avoiding spamming in the forum to reach "X" number of posts. Also, i think it will be a better measure of quality of participation rather than time spent.
