For me it was Jojo Moyes, Me Before You. I shed tears towards the end. Powerful writing it was!

I can remember a few books that made me feel kind of sad. I can't remember if it moved me to tears though.

1. Wonder by R.J. Palacio - Some of the incidents in the book were really sad.

2. A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry - The first few pages, especially Dina's husband's death when he went to buy icecream was terribly sad, all the more so because it is mentioned and closed so quickly.

3. Mice by Gordon Reece - This is one of my very favorite books... It's written so well. It's a story about the struggle of a mother and daughter in a desolate place. There were many places where I could sense their pain and fear.

When I was younger, I remember crying after reading Tuesdays with Morrie. Not sure if I'll find it as moving now.

Wow! Thanks for sharing @mousetrap. I will certainly look up Mice. Though I don't like to read books that make you sad or cry . very few are so moving, hence worth a recount!

Mice isn't meant as a tear-jerker but it's one of those books written so skillfully that it transports you into the story and experience their fear and misery. You may or may not like it, but give it a try! It doesn't have a sad ending. I'll upload the book soon.

And I just read the blurb about Me Before You... I'll check out the book as soon as I get time. Sounds promising.

A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry was indeed very touching emotionally. It affected me so much that I have postponed reading Such A Long Journey so far. I might pick it up some day but I am not in the mood to feel sad these days.

I haven't cried reading a book but I think Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand as the saddest one I have read.

You should definitely check out Mice.

My thoughts exactly. I want to take a break before moving on to his next book. I wasn't very impressed with Tales from Firozshah Bagh, but this one is exceptional.
