what are the books that u felt were promising/interesting n u began reading
but at the end u really did not enjoy the way it turned out ultimately?
mines would be Shiva Trilogy.though it began well in book one.
but somehow book 2 3 lost the plot n were not upto their standard.
it was neither gripping nor convincing enough.
It's happened with quite a few books, though right now I can recall vividly 'Ghachar Ghochar' - It was so promising, but I felt it ended too abruptly and pointlessly.
Recently read Monthly book read of last two months.... Butcher of Benarus and The Dark Maidens. Both had a winded up anticlimax kindof end. disappointing

I would say that I would agree with you about the Butcher of Benaras. But not The Dark Maidens. I thought the Mystery played out effectively . The truth clicked in the last few pagesand the whole thing left me second guessing evrything I thought I understood about each charecter. every narrative i think left enough scope for recalibration of reader expectations. Funny Thing- I did not find outrage or protest when some one got accused of doing it! The glaring flaw in the book-the mystery stew and taking stuff in darkness when candles had been lit
I disagree here
The climax was long drawn and not plausible, in fact the whole premise of the reasons and unveiling of the mystery was very flimsy. Didn't really go down well.
Maybe because it was the months read I had thought better of the read and had more expectations
so.......
