Book Discussions

Now that we have a few members interested and we have all have quite varied interests, do you prefer we vote a book/author/genre to discuss, or have multiple threads/topics open for the discussions concurrently. I want to make this decision as democratic as possible .

Perhaps we can include classics that many of us worldwide will know and heard of. Even if we have not read one, some or most of them we are likely to have opinions on them and share comments on the author's style, creativity, page turner abilities and even context among other things.

The Sherlock Holmes series is one such example. The author, Conan Doyle, was a member of British Intelligence, knew Harry Houdini, the magician and was fascinated by the Occult itself.

Sherlock Holmes meanwhile is a science graduate, someone who smokes opium, has followers and admirers, but few friends and keeps a low profile.

It sounds a good idea but hardly practical I mean we'll take forever to decide the book. Wh at I suggest is that Whoever takes fancy of some book and wants to discuss it should start a thread for that and those interested in that genre or that book can add on there views. I guess it will be difficult to have a formalized version like monthly reads.. That way we can have multiple threads running parallel without issues

I floated this idea before we launched group reads .

Agree with your suggestion. Members can open a thread for a book they wish to discuss. Reviews can work as topic starters too for now.

Oh Ok, sry didn't know that. Just stumbled upon the thread and added my two bits.
I mean we keep on going through the threads to inspire us for next read.....

No issues. We are always open to suggestions. I check old threads for recommendations too, now that I am getting back to myth fics .
