Audio Books  definitely not my kind of books... Mine are either good old print book or e-book. Had t ...

I hear you. I walk for an hour everyday. I needed to leverage that hour, and I thought, man let's give this a spin. So, I have started picking up motivational stuff and other nonfiction. So far it's working for me. It also works during the commute, if there isn't too much traffic on the road drowning the audio out.  At all events, it's merely to supplement your reading and it can never take the place of actually reading from a book. Very difficult to back up to something you may have missed on mp3. Like my ipod backs up to the last "chapter" and I can't precisely position it to somewhere in between and that sucks.

The book, if read at leisure, should be allowed to engage in a dialogue with our thoughts. And therein lies the value of text as opposed to relying on auditory senses.

I prefer physical/ebooks. Somehow, I don't like audio books as it doesn't create the atmosphere or thrill I experience when I read the book myself.

That is an interesting way to look at it. Our grannies were indeed a treasure trove of stories.

Yes, they were our audio-books of sorts. BUT we could interrupt them and ask questions, clear doubts, ask her to describe some more of a character or a place... Our inquistiveness would be attended to. One doesn't get that in audio books!
