I used to love the tinkle comics too...but recently i came across a latest tinkle one, and I did not find the spark in it unlike the ones I read as a kid...Could be that I've grown up now...but I think the quality of the comics has gone down lately, trying to match up with the international magazines
Folks I agree with every view expressed above. But the pity is kids hardly take to comics these
days, with no audience, our comics may not be around. A good solution suggested above- make them digital. that might work.

Same thoughts.... I had a collection of tinkles and loved the stories from the 80s and 90s issues. I dont enjoy the recent ones as much. I think the tinkle digests still use many of the old stories...
I think Amar chitra Katha will die as soon as we, the last generation will.
As people hardly pay attention to anything that requires effort. They will watch crap mythological series on tv instead.
comics are basically devoured by the kids. nowadays do they really have the time. education eats away the time. whatever is left, thats they spend on mobiles/tablets/pc etc. its our failure that we could not give them the taste of the comics....something for which we fought with friends in our childhood.
If internet& smart phone kill reading habits why people buy ebooks& readers? Watching videos impact listening skills and reading habits.but technology is not killing reading habits.its like choice between fast food or grains for cooking
And obviously kids are going for the fast food. Its easy to understand to them in catoons available in youtube of the stories we read in amar chitra katha. I got I ACK book on Shivaji and gave it to my daughter. She read it. Next day she went through youtube on her mothers mobile, found and watched a cartoon on Shivaji again and then said these books are boring. For her seeing people drawn as fighting and seeing people fighting in real sense in cartoons...obviously the later is more appealing. Lets accept for our generation when there was youtube & cartoons, ACK or Tinkle were the best options. But for the kids nowadays, they simply don't appeal that much.
