P G Wodehouse is my all time favourite. Also Ruskin Bond and Sudha Murthy because of their simple storytelling.
James Rollins is my another favourite..
There are too many favourites , I guess depending on the genre.

J K Rowling - she had created a masters in Harry Potter. Not saying just about the magic, she has connected the various events stories so masterully. And, the main point in entire story is the simplest thing - LOVE
