Guide based on R.K. Narayan's book with same name. In fact its one movie which i feel does complete justice to the book in fact it really surpasses the book in story telling and the sheer brilliance of its actors brings to life the characters so beautifully

There are very few movies i like better than the book, but this is one of them. Carrie as well (the original movie at least)...

Most movies make me cringe with how different/unrelated to the book they are, but this was one where i even forgave "red" ;)

The Shining was a great example of good adaptation. I watched the movie first and read the book later. It shows that the director Stanley Kubrick did a fantastic adaptation - just gave me the creeps throughout the movie. Movies like The Shining, Jaws, Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather should only be watched on the big screen - for their sheer brilliance.
