After reading a brief intro of the book on Goodredas, I feel I have to try out this book.

Cool! That's kind of you. The book can perhaps be enjoyed as a standalone (for some of its fantasy elements - setting, character history etc), but you could also check out the Grisha Trilogy (an amazing narrative and storybuilding feat) which serves a powerful precursor to Six of Crows. Basically, this book has strong characterization, action, adventure and fantasy blending for a terrific read. Its sequel, Crooked Kingdom, is a great followup too. Hope you enjoy it.
