One can defintely experiment more with e-books. Plus there is the whole Kindle Unlimited section, and of course sites like Craxme. It is easier to drop books midway with little to no guilt.

@mirzolino Nothing beats the charm of holding a print book, though.

A decade ago I would have sworn by print version, but with growing older, skewed up eyesight, tiny fonts of paperbacks, cost of hardcover being a burden on the purse, the vote definitely goes to e book readers. I am on to my second Kindle paper white now. Factors like ease on the eye, options to increase font size ,brightness, ease of downloading ebooks all have made book worms like me happy and happier. I also read on iBooks and google play books.

I'm a librarian. That being said, i'm the librarian that makes our digital presence possible: i spend more time on websites, facebook and making flyers than i do handling books. SO in my nature, i'm of both worlds: the paperbook is why i studied to become a librarian, but my job is nearly entirely digital (and i love it)
So my dual nature with books: There still isn't a nicer feeling for me than to actually touch a book, sniff it, turn the pages. BUT i do have an e-reader i take on holidays, or in bed with me etcetera. I read both mediums.
If i would HAVE to choose, i'd go for the e-reader. Why? Most books i enjoy reading just aren't available in my (non-english speaking) country as paperbacks, and improt taxes on them are quite high.
I have an Icarus e-reader that still has buttons to turn hte page (THE reason i bought that one), but if i'll upgrade i wil most likely go for the Kobo Aura

Now with all these mobile devices ebooks are the best, but nothing will beat the print books especially the smell of a new book.....

For portability, ability to manipulate the text like increasing or decreasing font size, I prefer e-readers. you can load it up with so many books.

I have always been curious to know a librarian's view on this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

While digitization would have helped manage libraries better, what effect did popularity of ebooks have on the libraries? Does your library lend ebooks? Do share your thoughts .

We do offer e-books as well as paper books for our patrons, but only in limited amount (we have about 400 ebooks vs about 40.000 paper books)
Some patrons do like to have the option to borrow e-reader and e-books from us (especially during holidays), but it's a minority.
Considering most people that read e-readers read fiction (non fiction is often so hard to display correctly) it has only had a very limited impact on our numbers.
Netflix and co had a MUCH bigger impact on our DVD-rentals, and Spotify etcetera on our CDs - we feel it MUCH more there.
