Thanks for sharing. I've never used IRC. It is far too technical for me.

I thought it wouldn't work for me either, but surprisingly it did. But yeah, it's a little bit of work. and It's not like there is a dearth of free ebooks to be had from other sources.

@Meself @cynic @jhsurti Another wonderful source I forgot to add: the internet archive. Good source for out of print and rare books  (Although I still haven't found Dom Moraes' A variety of absences, which is out of print and I can't buy for love or money - I could, from places like abe books, if I had lots of money - but I am not that crazy. It's funny how much sanity not being rich bestows on you!  Besides I have at least read two of the three books anthologized in there. enough about that. now, what was i saying? yes, the internet archive...  ) If you have never been, just google the internet archive, create a free account, and there you are!
They have mostly PDFs there, but if it is a book you badly want to read, It'll do nicely! They have this concept of "borrowing" like in a library, there is a sort of app that you use to read it online in a browser page. Once you have a book, you can keep it for a fortnight - these are for books that they don't let you download. There's a good many that they do let you download. Sometimes they are encrypted but calibre can rip 'em for you. At other times, depending on the encryption, calibre might not be able to, but these you can happily read online.

Thanks for sharing this. I had heard of Internet Archive but was not aware of the library feature. I just had a look-over and it is pretty extensive.

That's so many books! Didn't know about that. But I still have too many books lined up to be read. But worth keeping the site in the Pocket.

You are welcome @cynic!

@jhsurti  that's very true. I have more than I can manage. Time to hunker down and get some serious reading done even if it means making oneself scarce around these parts! I am lagging behind on my target big time!

I spend a lot of time on the net reading and browsing, so come up with many suggestions of books that people recommend that are in my area of interest.
