Forsyth is definitely one of the best. Brown's conceptual foundations are more fascinating than the narratives he crafts. Clancy and Follet were great in the early part of their careers, but like James Patterson, Clancy has spawned an industry of sameness. Ludlum is interesting, his Road To Gandolfo is one of the most entertaining works I've ever read; His Bourne are too demented and ultra-intense. I've seen no one use exclamation marks as much as he's done. Daniel Silva - meh. Vince Flynn - again his concepts are rooted in reality and intrigue well enough, but his books.... well. Baldacci is ok, I guess, nothing outstanding but good enough to pick, read, finish, forget. |
