Just be mentally prepared that laptops may have an average life of 2.5 years. Apple has some resale value.

If you are planning to keep this for more than a few years, I would emphasize a company whose product you can get repaired easily (and cheaply). That's not an issue for most major brands in Western Europe or the USA, but it's a big deal in other parts of the world.

Dell is the winner. I used Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba and Apple. HP is noisy and didn't last long, Apple one is not user friendly and costly. My order will be 1. dell 2. Lenovo 3. HP 4. Toshiba 5. Asus 6. Apple
