Awards are all about marketing these days. As for the reality shows, it is about "what looks good and what would sell".

Yes there are still honest people about but the fact is that dishonest people get much more limelight and fame for whatever reason so somehow all seems lost. But some good is still left amongst us that I am sure of

According to the judges, it is indeed the story telling. I am not really a fan of award winning bo ...

So, I just read Sabrina and I must admit I'm really impressed!
The ending was the only weak part of the book... it could have been tighter. Otherwise, the story is really good. Very expertly done. It's about a tragedy, its effect on the people related to the victim, the way media processes it and how the general public respond. I think the strength of the graphic novel is in that it doesn't focus on the actual murder but more on its aftereffects and how different people view it in different ways.

Definitely worth a read.

Wow, that's awesome! I couldn't get it there, but I read an online version on mobilism. I'm scared of downloading from there - I've found viruses a couple of times.
So sad about oceanofpdf... it was a decent place to get some really good stuff.

Mobilism is a royal mess. Ditto on oceanofpdf, had just got to know about it.

I've read only 3 from the list - Maus, Persepolis and Arrival. Arrival is one of my al time favorite books. I still remember buying it when Flipkart first came into existence! And this is a book I like to gift to friends - it's very nicely done. I like his other works too - Tales from Outer Suburbia and Eric. But Eric is such a tiny little graphic novel priced exorbitantly!

I read it, and got to agree, it has a strong message put forth. In a way, the minimalism of the graphics works for the story. Ditto on the ending. Was left underwhelmed, it was just too random and abrupt.
You should post a review for this. It deserves a separate thread.

Yes, I'll post a review sometime.
I was reading random reviews about 'Sabrina' and found a few comments about how Booker Prize's standards were going down and people can now only look at picture stories! And that reminded me of the core message of this book... But I guess the uninspiring cover picture doesn't help.
