The best and the only interesting part of the book was its cover!
Other than that, it was a disappointment page after page!

What Amish Tripathi wrote word after word, line after line and page after page was not any editor's burden to carry. Easy to understand language is okay, but what was utterly suffocating was his obsession with turning a Mythological Story into a cheesy, roadside 20 Rs. Hindi novel's word by word English translation.

Easy Read is a treat. Bad Read is a bad read. Period.
The language, choice of words, clumsy packaging of chapters with Ekta-Kapooresque cliffhangers added to the repugnance that the book brought about!
Mata Sati, A princess with Crossbow? Mythology knows her as the Most Spiritual Sage who ever lived. She was an epitome of a Tapashchaarini. Yoga's ultimate disciple! She's  a princess with a Crossbow for you Amish?

Parvateshwar? Please Amish! Please! You could have used the real name Maharaj Himavan!

Calling him Tolkein of the East is the most disappointing thing I ever came across.

You are best-selling. Hats off to you
People love you, congratulations!
I don't have anything against the author or readers who love his work
They enjoyed and that's the only thing that matters to them.

But the most unfortunate thing is when people fake love for a work of amusement
Why no one wanted to read Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar or BhagwatiSharan Verma's work instead is because they are all Hindi Works.
Are you freaking kidding me, Hindi? Are we Govt. School's charity case? English is class! English is cool. And industry's latest buzz is Amish! He's the man!
It was sarcasm before, I want to share that love for English Novels is (Sorry to say) is the most fake thing in my humble opinion. I'm sorry that I'm stereotyping here, but it's true!
If English Novels are so cool, why pick an Indian Author, you may ask!
We are Nationalists. India rises because Indian Authors are making a global impact!
Sarcasm Again!
Amish's latest Work RamChandra Series, is a deliberate attempt to jump into Amritanshu Pandey's The Seal of Surya, The Legend ofof Ikshwa zone!

Although unrelated in story, idea has been hijacked from there only!

Mata Seeta (Warrior Princess?)
She was Spiritually awakened, Scholar of Vedas! Calm and Composed Princess who gave away the comforts of Palaces to help and guide her Prince Husband. She was supremely gifted Mother, more capable than Mothers such as Jijabai who mentored Shivaji or Anusuiya who mentored Purushottam or Puru alias Poras! She single handedly brought up her sons to make them into Warriors who outperformed Shatrughna and Raghukul Princes!

Fabricating a story about her being a Warrior Princess? Have you read Elektra or Black Widow or Catwoman way too much Amish to always color Princesses as warriors?

Creative Liberty is fine! But False story! Different tale?
That's unforgivable!
And please allow me to say this again, There are Third Standard's essays in School Syllabus which are better written and more sensible.
Shatrujeet Nath, Pradeep Kumar, Devdutt Pattanaik, Kevin Missal, Krishna UdayShankar, Usha Narayanan are some of the extremely talented Indian writers

Please ignore the post if it offends you! Question was about books that I hate. I'm not authorized to pass judgments on an extremely loved writer!
Sorry once again if my post is an offence to you

Woah this was some rant.

Well I am not against presenting our Goddess as warriors because Divine Feminine is essentially that. A nurturer, a protector and thereafter a destroyer. If she wields a weapon it is because that is a part of her many roles. But having said that I do agree that the narrative style is plain and drab at times with Amish. And hijacking an idea? Could you please tell me more about that?

Hi, Sorry it came across as rant!
Supreme Lord!
His Divine Consort!
They create, nurture and culminate the Universe!
They incarnate as Humans to serve a purpose!
Can you imagine them using Expletives? It's not Gangs of Wasseypur or Attack of 26/11 where leads spit out abuses to give the audiences a tinge of realism
Plain Narrative is wonderful. It's bad Narrative that is bad!
Mata Sati, Mata Seeta. They are Motherly, Loving and Nurturing and Forgiving incarnates of God Almighty and Mother Goddess! There has to be valid reason for them to wield weapons.

That's my thinking!

Devdutta... Are you referring to Devdutt Patnaik? I thought he has been writing about myth much before Amish? Maybe I'm wrong.

Devdutt Pattanaik has been writing much before Amish
That's true!
And it's his style that you can call Plain and Easy Narrative and he excels at it, in my humble opinion.
No offence please

Without a second thought, it's Amish Tripathi for me. I simply couldn't and cannot understand the hype about his books. I read only the first part of Meluha series and that was it! Couldn't take him anymore. @Mousetrap and @Danielle have already put in enough reasons without me repeating them. He is like sort of Chetan Bhagat of Myth-fic except that CB started off well with 5-point someone.

Chetan Bhagat, I remember I used to be very young when I started reading his book "Five point Someone", it was hailed as the path breaker, most honest autobiography of an Indian author, but I wasn't even half way through the book when I started questioning me

I thought I was the biggest fool who couldn't appreciate the epic work
And it continued for about more than a year. And then I read reviews, good reviews, bad reviews and only then could I figure out how pathetic his style of writing (or the absence of it) was!

Utterly disappointing, regretful read and even more disappointing is the widespread critical acclaim that his package of cliché (I feel sorry for the word cliché here) attracts in India

Chetan Bhagat has now started writing movie scripts and not books. The scripts are published as books and not otherwise. After 5 point he has been downhill......

That is correct but it's the Shiva trilogy which started the wave and then all others got benefitted.
