Snails belong to the phylum Mollusca, which is a group of animals with a soft body and lacking an internal skeleton and bones. They are related to oysters, clams, shellfish and octopuses. Snails are one of the earliest known types of animals in the world with fossil evidence showing the presence of primitive gastropods nearly 500 million years ago.
Their soft, unsegmented bodies are normally protected by a hard shell. Snails can be both Aquatic (water dwelling) and Terrestrial (land dwelling). All terrestrial snails are gastropods. In latin gastro means stomach and pod means foot, so roughly "a belly footed animal".
The body of the snail is soft, moist and slimy. It has a hard shell as protection for its soft body (the slug which is closely related to the snail is an exception). When the snail is disturbed, it simply withdraws its soft body back into its shell. Similarly in hot/dry weather the snail retreats into its shell and seals the entrance to protect its body from drying up. A snail is often nocturnal and is more active on cloudy days.  In winter, it hibernates in the ground. Snails have different shaped shells, varying from rounded, spiral and pointed or even flat. Most snails are hermaphrodites, meaning a single snail has both male and female reproductive parts. Snails can live up to 3 to 7 years.

A farm is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing food and other crops; it is the basic facility in food production.[1] The name is used for specialised units such as arable farms, vegetable farms, fruit  arms, dairy, pig and poultry farms. Farming originated independently in different parts of the world, as hunter gatherer societies transitioned to food production rather than, food capture. It may have started about 12,000 years ago with the domestication of livestock . Modern farms in developed countries are highly mechanized. In less developed countries, small farms are the norm, and the majority of rural residents are subsistence farmers, feeding their families and selling any surplus products in the local market. A  farm may be owned and operated by a single individual, family, community, corporation or a company, may produce one or many types of produce, and can be a holding of any size from a fraction of a hectare to several thousand hectares. Some farms may not use the word at all, hence vineyard (grapes), orchard (nuts and other fruit), market garden or "truck farm" (vegetables and flowers). Some farms may be denoted by their topographical location, such as a hill farm, while large estates growing cash crops such as cotton or coffee may be called plantations.
