i am reading a book called Moskva by Jack Grimwood. I have not read him before but would recommend his books to all those who enjoy John Le Carre. You can feel the chill of Russia in the Cold War era.

Interesting ! The best book on war that I have read is "All Quiet on the Western Front". Set in WW1, the futility and pointlessness of war is demonstrated. Read it if you can !
