Mysore is one of the cleanest cities in India. When I stepped into Mysore, there was a calmness in the air. Used to the Hurry burry life of Bangalore I was amazed at the laid back pace of this heritage city. I stayed at Roopa Elite, which was very much a value for money hotel. It is around INR 2700 for a room with breakfast and is very clean. The best part of staying here is that there are enough eateries to tempt every palate.
Places to see:
a.The Palace: The palace is a must visit and should you go on a weekend do stay and witness the Palace Lighting on Sunday typically between 7-8 pm.
b. Jaganmohan Palace - A treasure trove of paintings and art especially if you are an art buff. The Highlights of this are Raja Ravi Verma's paintings and the 'Glow of Hope' by Sawlaram Haldankar
c. Trek to Chamundi Hills early in the morning and witness the city spread. Midway halt at the Huge Nandi and admire it. At the top of the hill is a temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundi.
d. Go on a horse drawn Tonga like a Maharaja and enjoy the wide streets of the city center
e. There are lots of places like Balamuri and Edamuri where one can go peek and bathe (if you so desire) in the River Cauvery.
f. Visit the Famous Brindavan Gardens and spend an evening
g. Like Nature - must visit the backwaters of the KRS Dam
Mysore unlike any other city has enough to keep you engrossed.. Dont go just for a weekend but go for a week to enjoy the city and what it has to offer.. If you do know places to see other than the ones I have posted pl add..
