It is interesting but very dangerous. In India mostly those ladies are coming forward who are not known in media or Indians. Point us that they are simply talking not approaching for law action barring one or two. In our country , we have seen many people alleged but apologise as & when the other person approach law. Politicians are regularly doing it. If one kept quiet for 10 or 15 years & now defame successful people us not fair.
though a lot of women (and men) would have suffered but in my opinion all such incidents should have been reported when they took place. Even if someone was mum after it happened it was to their own advantage some way or the other. I just feel right now everyone just wants to ride on the wave and put the guilty through a media (read social media) trial
Look at it the other way. What treatment would they have received from society? Worse than untouchables! So fear drove their silence. Not sure whether they would receive bouquets even now if they were being truthful. Anyways they gain nothing at this stage if they have been truthful beyond shaming the other side. But yes, this can be dangerous and maybe misused too
Not a publicity stunt. I feel it is high time that the #metoo movement takes place in India especially in the industries of Bollywood and Media. However, it is also true that is it largely a phenomenon restricted to urban India
There is good and bad to this movement. Finally folks are coming out with their stories, better late than never. However there are a few who use this movement to get back on their personal grudges, this dilutes the movement. Also is there proof in all these accusations, would it stand in a court of law? Time will answer.
