Often we have dreaded those long-haul flights, wondering how to kill time during the journey?
After all, how long can you keep yourself busy with clouds outside the window, eat, read or keep yourself entertained while being stationed at the same seat for such a long duration?
But what if you are given a chance to board a flight that would land even before you have made yourself comfortable onboard?

The world's shortest scheduled flight is between Westray and Papa Westray, which are part of the Orkney archipelago, in UK. Regional airlines, Logan Air, runs a flight service in this 2.7 km long route, that takes anywhere between 53 seconds and two minutes, depending on the direction of the flow of wind.
Till 2016, more than a million people were flown over this route, for Pounds 17 (Rs 1405).
Apart from the world's shortest flight, these are some of the other flights that are known to take the least amount of time to travel.

Minami-Daito to Kitadaito (Japan)
The flight departs from the Okinawa islands of Naha to reach Minami-Daito and then carry on to Kitadaito. The time taken to fly from Minami-Daito to Kitadaito is only three minutes. But the price of the ticket is Yen 7600 (Rs 4402).

Papeete to Mo'orea, French Polynesia (Tahiti)
To cover the distance between the Papeete, capital of French Polynesia, and Mo'orea, that is only a mere 20 km, the flight doesn't take more than 15 minutes. Air Tahiti plies on the route several times a week, for tickets worth USD 67 (Rs 4287.83).

Saipan to Tinian, Northern Mariana Islands (US Territory)
You may have to check-in 45 minutes before boarding the flight between Saipan and Tinian. However, the flight itself will not take more than 10 minutes to take you to your destination. Freedom Air runs flights along the route for a price of USD 42 (Rs 2688.31).

Connemara to Inis Meain (Ireland)
Flights don't take more than six minutes to cover the distance of 20 km, between Connemara Airport and the island of Inis Meain. Tickets can be booked on Aer Arann for Euros 49 (Rs 3729.65).
