Ronnie215 can you tell me what was different about the 1983 Indian Cricket Team compared to 1979 and even 1987.
I did not watch the 1979 World Cup but in the SF of 1987 it was a repeat of the 1983 SF- India against England.
While India defeated England easily in 1983, the English team took revenge four years later. Do you think it was due to changes in line up, strategy, bowling or could it have been something else. Some have said it was just that England was lucky that day; do you share that opinion.
England then went on to lose by 7 Runs in the Final to Australia. The irony of 1987 was that the winning World Cup team, Australia, had lost by 13 Runs to Zimbabwe in an earlier match.
Kapil Dev was in all of the three World Cups mentioned (1979, 1983 and 1987) and was captain in 1983. I don't think he was a member of the 1975 Indian team.
