IT IS TRUE THAT IT IS A GREAT GAZAL AND RENDERED SUPERBLY BY MEHDI HASAN.
BUT
IF THE SAME GAZAL IS SUNG BY HIM ABOUT 10-15 YEARS EARLIER IS LISTENED TO ( ATTACHED MP4), ONE WONDERS HOW HIS VOICE WENT DOWN FROM SILK TO COTTON.

NO DISRESPECT TO THE GREAT SINGER , BUT THE FACT IS FACT.

Thank you for your response. Mehdi Hassan braved illness for many years. He had to step down from play back singing in the 80s. Later, he completely cut down on music, as his illness had taken over. He ultimately passed away in 2012.

Yes, that is true, inspite of illness , affecting his voice, he did not leave music and rose again.

Way back he had sung "Teri har ek ghazal qaabil-e-daad hai/ Par meri aawaaz mein bhi kuchh baat hai". May be he was knowing that one day his voice would rule over the hearts of the listeners.
