Some musicians, convinced of the need to present their art to the world as soon as possible, are launched from very young to the adventure of producing their own recordings. Others, more patiently, distill their proposals over the years and when they decide to record their own records, the result has the ability to offer a broader vision, the result of influences, tastes, techniques and passions sculpted with perseverance.
That is the case of "Just Feeling", the first album as the leader of the veteran Puerto Rican guitarist Moncho Ríos, a work that reflects the styles of instrument giants such as George Benson or Wes Montgomery, presenting a personalized sound, as well as his own compositions Centered within the framework of a powerful rhythmic funk and with frequent blues-rock strokes, this album is a full-color portrait (as the photo on the cover indicates) of good vibes and optimistic airs, pleasant not only for those who like of jazz and funk, but for anyone who loves good music.
It is also a carefully crafted production, from the aforementioned cover to its pure and well defined sound, created by Egui Sierra, who was the recording engineer, and Raúl Romero, in charge of mixing and mastering. The participating musicians include a considerable number of great local talents: Egui Sierra himself on bass, Ángel David Mattos on piano, Raúl Romero on guitar and four excellent drummers, José Ruiz, Héctor Matos, Pepe Jiménez and Efraín Martínez. There is no shortage of special guests, such as the titan of the tenor saxophonist David Sánchez; Jorge Laboy on rhythm guitar; Amuni Born in organ; Raúl Rodríguez and Rigo Collazo on percussion; Fidel Morales in batá drums; and Yan Carlos Artime on electric piano. To complete, Eusebio "Chebi" Rodríguez takes up one of the themes, "Cenizas".
