The unreal aliens look like something special, but most reviews i've skimmed point to it being at it ...

Patter, You're right. This is a satire on Indian politics and politicians. So I guess that limits its appeal. I'll seek out some universally relevant ones too.

Oh, well. Fair observations.  I guess I latched on to stuff completely different in Daniel Jose Ol ...

I have read Unreal Elections by the author. It was the first Indian satire book I read and although it was enjoyable, it was basically a compilation of the items at Unreal Times with some new ones thrown in.

Indian satire reminds of these books which I found very interesting and hilarious:

1. Raag Darbari by Shrilal Shukla

2. English, August by Upamanyu Chatterjee

3. Mammaries of a Welfare State by Upamanyu Chatterjee

I wanted to see the movie after I read the book. But I couldn't get mya hands on it.

I read the prints were lost due to flooding. There is no digital copy of the movie either, although Dev Benegal is working on the restoration. Such a sorry state of affairs.
