Terrifying, isn't it? Developed nations that have already laid the foundation for this crisis refuse to be culpable; developing nations are equally ravenous in consuming natural resources and offloading harmful gases into the atmosphere, and equally argumentative, if not more, as the developed ones. Carbon credits and taxes are ineffectual as long as the world collective is compromised in its efforts to combat (it's probably not possible to reverse) climate change.
Resource harvesting and renewal is something the developing nations can lead the charge in. Advanced but responsible technology is where the developed ones can drive a positive change.
Unless we think for our future generations and commit with engaged love (if I may define 'passion' thus), there's little hope for the Earth and mankind. And the fantastic promises of space colonization are just that - castles in the sky - for now. The super and ultra rich are busy investing in questionable schemes for cryo-preservation and space travel; the rest of us are busy complaining about everything and everyone else, but hardly anywhere close to doing something in our own homes and streets - reduce plastic usage, opt for public transport and travel pools, rainwater harvesting, cleanliness and hygiene, mass plantations, blocking green space encroachment, citizen activism and so on.
Like an enlightened soul once said - paraphrasing it - Poverty (of environmental commitment) anywhere is a threat to prosperity (sustainable action) everywhere.
