I started reading the book only after I had already seen the movie and loved it, and I am still thankful for my choice. See I loved the movie, but once I read the book, I was hooked, there was no way I would have enjoyed the movie had I read the book first. The book is just brilliant, but the movie is a very close adaptation despite having to cut out many portions for the sake of maintaining a decent runtime for the film

That said, tbe story is essentially a modern day Robinson crusoe tale set o. Mars where mark. Watney has to, in his own words, science the shit out. Of things in order to survive. It is this human element and mark. Watneys never say die attitude that keep. You. Hooked to the book
