Why do we still address British colonials as 'Lords' in our history books even today?

The same reason why we address Mughals like Akbar, Jahangir, etc. as “Badshahs”

Alauddin Khalji as “Sultan”,

Winston Churchill as “Sir”

& several foot-licking zamindars as “Ray Bahadurs”

These are titles conferred upon them by their office, not because of any public Respect. You can choose not to address them by these names, if you don't think it's right to do so…

P.S. If you look for titles which were born out of public respect, you don't have to look further …

We Indians always give respect to others.  Our history & culture imbibe thus in our blood. Besides, we also get easily influenced by foreigners. As British era powerful people were addressed as Lordship & very intelligently they organise in forum for others to address them like that.

THe British entered India with their titles or wee=re conferred with titles once they went back. Therefore so many Lords.
