I have included this story in here because Iran between 1941-1979 (at the time of this 'great party' in 1971) was an Imperial power, a slave state under American patronage and kept in physical existence as an absolute monarchy through western support alone. It was a highly unpoular and oppressive regime that would not have lasted a deacde under normal circumstances. The Shah himself was more of an American than an Iranian and tried to make Iran into the US.
To give you an illustration of this, a law was passed in Iran in 1964, that made all Americans [military, civilian etc.] in Iran above the constitution. In short they could NOT be arrested, tried, found guilty, brought to court under any circumstances. The number of American soldiers in Iran was also growing year by year.
