Are you able to make time for reading? If so, when do you read and how many hours do you take to do so?

Also, Do you believe in reading non-fiction from cover to cover?

Oh me and reading are great pals lol, if i like a book i read it cover to cover, just that the book should take my fancy, i am very picky on the type of books i read. Although i have loads and loads of ebooks and hard copies between me and my husband but i am the picky type compared to him.
I have never given a thought to how many hours i read, it just depends on my work load, but i do read every day thats for sure.

Yey! Thank you for responding Uma. I am extremely picky as well. Goodreads' reviews help with allowing me to narrow down on what to read. But I have ADD (attention deficit), I like to think, because I am not able to concentrate, owing - not a little bit - to the distractions. TV, in no small measure! There's so much one can learn from the movies too! and then of course, all the entertainment one can get online. All you can read and watch! We've never had it better and, consequently, never had it worse, at the same time, if you know what I mean. With so much to choose from! Decision paralysis! What to do, What to do!

All the ebook hunting I do used to stress me out! So much of my time and energy goes in that direction. But now I look at it differently. It's a sport with me now. It's like fishing online. You wait. Patiently. Like an angler baiting fish.

I know I am not going to read everything. But it's not different from, say,  visiting a library. You walk in. You browse. I like them there, sitting on the HDD. Satisfied in the knowledge that I have the access, whenever, wherever, no matter what - there will always be an escape. There will always be something to read. and thank goodness for that!

That said, I still buy me my paper copies, whenever I can. The ones you can't get in ebook. I make a game of that too. I add them to my wishlist and I get some kind of perverse pleasure in gypping Amazon of its profit margin on said book by buying it when the price is at its lowest. It's not like it makes a dent in their pocket or anything. Like taking a mug of water out of the ocean really. Also, I don't feel so guilty at all. I paid them good money for two kindles both of which now, less than two years down the line, are little more than paperweights. Well, one of them is. But the other one is on its last legs and malfunctions in the most unpredictable ways imaginable - I didn't know it was possible for a programmable unit to do that. But then again, that's true of every computer ever! No service center either. sigh! Ergo, I want my money back Amazon and I shall have it, one way or another! :-) Kidding. All izz well, All izz well! We will always have a machine or a phone to read the ebook off of. (provided of course the third world war doesn't break out or anything. I know! that's not funny! But I ain't kidding. look. fingers crossed and everything! )

Gut feeling. I have never seen the price fall lower than the price I have bought it at. I have been wrong, on occasion. Like recently I bought a Ruskin Bond, Namita Gokhale anthology "Himalaya" for 439 and it was available for 400 (a full 50% less) a week later. But I also bought Ruskin Bond's biography (hard back) for 270 alongwith to save on the shipping and which was retailing at 350 plus later. So, things even out like that.

That said, you kinda sorta know you are not going to get a better deal. I know it is not much of an answer.

More than the price, and goes without saying of course, you ought not to buy something just because it is on sale. If it is not something you wanted to buy and felt coerced to, you've just given away your money, never mind the bargain. The book will just sit there on the shelf, teasing you, the rest of your life. (You are not likely to pick it up to read because then you'll have lost your time too. Unless you want to do a Hodja and eat the chillies you bought thinking they were sweets.)

Like I mentioned, I only buy paper copies of books that have not been made available in ebook form. There is nothing worse than buying a paper copy only to see it available on the net for the taking a week later! (Here's hoping a publisher does not see this, but WTH, they can only hang you once and I got me enough in my kitty already for several lifetimes!)

It's early days for this place yet. UCForum had just about every book by Ruskin Bond. Which is to say, most people who join here will be ex-UCForum and they'll already have those.

Like I mentioned, I got all my Ruskin Bonds in paper. I didn't need 'em ebooks and so I didn't get 'em. Not like me to waste precious bandwidth. I can be very economical like that. Downright frugal. Cause it is the root of all virtue. So sue G.B. Shaw!

Didn't you get your copies off of UCForum? In any case, they are all out there somewhere.   Why make redundant posts?  Unlike the earth, no matter how hard man tries, the net can have no boundaries. Once out there, you've got a backup for life. There can be no gurantees of course. If you are afraid this place will go the UCForum way and want something to fall back on, siphon off your favorites to a cloud account somewhere and back it up on a personal HDD to be doubly sure.

Anyhoo, not for me to question your motives, or tell you what to do, but if you feel so strongly about it, not to be rude or anything, you could pretty much make those posts yourself in less time than it takes to egg others on, no?

I am just here for the conversation.  Thank you very much! :-)
