Actually, I think that sexism does not lie in the distinctions according to gender and/or sex, which will always exist, but rather lies in the way in which a situation is approached that places a person in a vulnerable state and exclusively by gender or sex, that is, there will always be distinctions, but when those distinctions impair liberties and individuals and rights solely for sexual reasons or criteria, then a situation of prejudice is created that can definitely affect the development and/or well-being of a human group, in this case, women.
For example, since many years I have removed the gender of employment application forms in my company, and I do not request that people include a photograph... Since then I have only hired staff based on their academic achievements and work experience , and not based on people's faces and whether they are men or women, or their skin color. The only thing that matters to me is that they do their job well and maximize my profits.
I have women driving delivery vans, I have two women occupying managerial positions, I have two people with visual disabilities doing office work and some foreigners also working.
There are still many traditional and conservative paradigms, generally with a religious origin, and that condemns women or men to do certain jobs or things only because they are women or men, and denying all of them the freedom, opportunity and possibility to do different things.
I think that all people, regardless of gender, have the potential to do something and achieve their own goals, regardless of what a majority group wants to impose.
Interestingly in antiquity, civilizations such as the Egyptian or Greek, even the Roman or some pre-Columbian cultures, were more liberal in those aspects...
Another additional curious fact, that two men walk together holding hands, is a gesture of friendship in some Arab countries, however, it is a gesture that can cause disapproval in many other countries... Even polygamy and polyandry can happen in various cultures.
These are examples of how variable and diverse human groups can be in different parts of the world. What is acceptable to some may be unacceptable to others...They are situations that show that nobody is born with pre-established ideas in their heads, all those things teach and they learn.
By the way, I do not think I can have several wives, because It would be terrible to have more than one mother-in-law... LOL
