Uploading parts of split files.

Recently myslef uploaded one big size ebook , splited in 5 parts. File name of splited files were ending with number , say 001,002. When i tried to upoad, i get error message that file format is not supported. To overcome this problem, i have to rename all parts and those who download it,  will have to again rename it !  This can be avoided by supporting uploading of split parts ending with number.

Does that include books with a sizable amount of colour illustrations, pictures, photos, maps and other additional things such as number of volumes that make books large in the first place.

Can and should we use WinZip and jpg to upload large books as the primary option to do so.
