Dan Brown's latest novel - Origin - was released today - October 3, 2017. ... I felt fortunate to find a download for it on the Net - and before I did the work of assembling a thread, I searched the forum with these terms: "dan brown origin" - and received no results. Then I put the thread together and published it as "Origin - the latest novel from Dan Brown."
About 20 minutes later, I had the thought to search just using the only author's name and found, to my horror, that this book had been shared as an additional post to this thread just a few hours before mine:
https://www.craxme.com/forum.php ... ghlight=dan%2Bbrown
I still had my published thread open in the browser, so I went to the bottom of it to the edit button and clicked on it - and found that, to my increasing horror, that my thread no longer existed! ... Right after that, I checked my private messages and found a note from Pedro_P, the section's Super-Moderator, letting me know that my thread had been removed because the book had been already shared in the above thread. (I tried to leave a private message to him to apologize, but found out that it wouldn't be sent because I'm not a friend of his. ... I am sorry about my mistake, sir, and I will not repeat this particular one again!
It's best, I think, that when searching for a particular book, to search for the author's name only. ... The regular and advanced search functions would not help anyone find the book using these terms: "dan brown origin."
Beyond suggesting to forum members not to assume that doing a search for the author and book title may not, as in this case, show that the book share has already been made within the forum, I respectfully suggest to forum administrators to consider allowing an addition to the advanced search functions that would enable search within the text of existing threads so that additions of more recent books can be shown as search results.
Thanks for your attention. And thanks to the CraxMe Forum for having me here! |
