Since not all digital books are available in audio format, one can go for Kindle fire which has in-built text-to-audio feature. So unless you have a scanned copy of a book, you kinda have audio of every english book.
While I prefer reading to listening, audiobooks have their own advantages. You don't have to imagine tone, rhythm, pace and dramatization. That can be done for you. You can also do other things while listening, which is not always possible with reading.
I will really love to have an audio book. Unfortunately I have never had the privilege of listening to one. I will like one with casts voices, background sounds that'll make it really interesting.
Audio books come with background music. They kind of give away what's about to happen or how serious the situation is. It seldom puts my imagination at work. However, reading a book definitely pushes my imagination to limits. Probably that's the reason why Harry Potter series is so much fun to read.
So, I lean towards reading instead of listening.
No. I prefer to read myself holding the book or reader in hand and fully get engrossed in reading. I even use the page curling effect in my reader to give myself a feeling that I am actually turning a page !
