[Discuss] What are your thoughts on depression in the modern day world? And do you have any solutions to offer???

Depression is a common occurence to people of all ages today, do you feel it can be coped in a widely changing world today or its just another thing about which we can't do much, if you have ever encountered depression or anxiety in your life, how were you able to cope with it, and do you have any suggestions about coping with them?
On a personal level i think meditation and working out helps a lot, but also prioritising stuff and focussing on key areas and avoiding stuff that is not too relevant and is an unnecessary burden helps too!

My roommate suffers from depression. For six-seven years, she lived in denial of the same. This actually made matters worse for her because she didnt understand that her daily routine in itself was not normal.
After my insistence for months with her to visit a doctor, she finally paid heed and consulted a psychiatrist. Though she is on anti depressants now, she is doing much better than she did earlier.

This made me realize that the problems like depression or anxiety can be managed only when the people accept themselves that they need help. Being afraid of the "taboo" or not having
anyone to discuss one's problems with is the biggest challenge.

Once a person accepts the problem, a solution can always be found for it.

Also,  it is high time that people increase their awareness regarding mental disorders and help those who require so.

These days it is becoming very known & many city based family encounter thus. It is primarily due to job & city hectic life related disease besides comparison with more richer neighbour & less contact with friend limits our own expression of personal problems.

From personal experience, getting a hobby and spending any spare time u get nurturing it withput giving yourself plenty time for idle rumination helps a lot...read lots of books, watch lots of movies, binge watch tv shows, watch highlights of sports if you are a sports fan..just keep urself busy by all means

I think hard work helps.  It makes you finish your duties, achieve goals and make progress.  All things that make you feel good about yourself.  And there you go - you are on the way to addressing your depression.  I know it is more complicated, but small steps ...

Prblm is mindset of people ,if a person start going for psychologist he or she automatically marked as mad person in our society. Most of people dont think depression is real prblm and person who is suffering from it needs our support
