1. Boyzone
Boyzone are an Irish boy band. Their most famous line-up was composed of Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating, and Shane Lynch. Boyzone have had 21 singles in the top 40 UK charts and 22 singles in the Irish charts. The group have had six UK No.1 singles and nine No.1 singles in Ireland with 12 of their 24 singles in the UK being in the UK Top 2. Boyzone are one of the most successful bands in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In total, Boyzone had 19 top 5 singles on the Irish Singles Chart, 18 top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart, nine No. 1 Irish hit singles and six No. 1 UK hit singles and five No. 1 albums, with 25 million records sold by 2013 worldwide.

They were put together in 1993 by Louis Walsh, who is also known for managing Johnny Logan and Westlife. Before even recording any material, Boyzone made an appearance on RTÉ's The Late Late Show. The group split in 1999. Boyzone made a comeback in 2007, originally with the intention of just touring. The band have sold 2 million records since their return.

Gately died on 10 October 2009 of natural causes while on holiday in the Spanish island of Majorca with his civil partner, Andrew Cowles.

In 2012, the Official Charts Company revealed the biggest selling singles artists in British music chart history, with Boyzone currently placed at 29th and the second most successful boy band in Britain, behind Take That.[4] To date, Boyzone have released four studio albums and seven compilation albums. Based on BPI certifications, they have sold over 13 million records in the UK alone.

Boyzone will be going on tour in late 2018 to celebrate their 25th anniversary. An album to celebrate the anniversary will be released in 16 November 2018.On 28 April 2018, it was announced that the band would split for good after their anniversary celebrations.

911 (pronounced "nine one one") are an English popgroup consisting of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constableand Simon "Spike" Dawbarn. They were formed in 1992 and released their debut single "Night to Remember" in May 1996. This was followed by their debut album The Journey in March 1997, which was certified Gold by the BPI in November 1997. 911 released two more Silver-certified albums, Moving On, which featured the talents of guitarist Nick Cash (real name Keith Lucas) and There It Is, in 1998 and 1999, respectively. There It Is also produced their only UK number-one single, a cover of "A Little Bit More", which topped the UK Singles Chart in January 1999.

In their five years together, 911 scored ten UK top 10 singles. They sold 10 million singles and 6 million albums around the world,and were very popular in South East Asia, where their first two albums went to number one.They announced their split in February 2000.

911 reunited in 2005, when they participated in the ITV reality show Hit Me, Baby, One More Time. They continued to occasionally perform live shows thereafter. In October 2012, it was announced that 911 would again reunite for the ITV2 reality-documentary series The Big Reunion, along with Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, B*Witched, Five and Honeyzin January 2013. Due to the highly positive reception, the groups went on an arena tour around the UK and Ireland. Their comeback album Illuminate: The Hits and More was released on 8 September 2013, along with their comeback single "2 Hearts 1 Love". In early 2014, 911 headlined their own UK tour - The Illuminate: The Hits and More Tour.

3. No Mercy

No Mercy is a trio of American singers who were originally brought together in Germany by producer Frank Farian.[2][1] The group consists of Bronx-born Marty Cintron and twin brothers Ariel and Gabriel Hernández, who hailed from Miami.

4. Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys (often abbreviated as BSB) are an American vocal group, formed in Orlando, Florida in 1993. The group consists of AJ McLean, Howie D., Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell.

The group rose to fame with their debut international album, Backstreet Boys (1996). In the following year they released their second international album Backstreet's Back (1997), and their U.S. debut albumwhich continued the group's success worldwide. They rose to superstardom with their third studio album Millennium (1999) and its follow-up album, Black & Blue (2000).

After a two-year hiatus, they regrouped and released a comeback album Never Gone (2005). After the conclusion of the Never Gone Tour in 2006, Richardson left the group to pursue other interests.The group then released two albums as a quartet: Unbreakable (2007) and This Is Us (2009).

In 2012, the group announced that Richardson had rejoined them permanently. In the following year they celebrated their 20th anniversary and released their first independent album, In a World Like This(2013). The group also released their first documentary movie, titled Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of in January 2015.

The Backstreet Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling boy band of all time, and one of the world's best-selling music artists. They are the first group since Sade to have their first nine albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200,[8] and the only boy band to do so. The Backstreet Boys are one of the few boy bands to have continued success long after their peak. Their 2013 album In a World Like This debuted in the top five, two decades after the group was formed. The group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 22, 2013.

5. Code Red

Phillip Andrew Rodell, Neil James Watts, Lee John Missen, and Roger Ratajczak formed themselves as the lineup for the vocal group, and they were signed by Polydor Records. They performed in the 1996 Great British Song Contest singing "I Gave You Everything", and finished as runners-up in the competition.

The group was disbanded in 2001.

Scarlet was released in 1997, and produced the hits "This Is Our Song", "Is There Someone Out There?" and the Tevin Campbell original, "Can We Talk".

Two years later, they released Missin You Already, a follow-up album which featured two hits, "What Would You Do If... ?" and "What Good Is A Heart" , which became a number two hit in the MTV Asia Hitlist.

6. Human Nature

Human Nature is an Australian boy band, which formed in 1989, with Toby Allen, Phil Burton and brothers, Andrew and Mike Tierney. Originally they were a doo-wop group, the 4 Trax, while the members were schoolmates. After signing with Sony Music as Human Nature, they released their debut album, Telling Everybody, in 1996. Three of their albums have reached number one on the ARIA Albums Charts, Counting Down (May 1999), Reach Out: The Motown Record (November 2005) and Dancing in the Street: The Songs of Motown II (October 2006). Two other albums reached number two, Get Ready (November 2007) and Jukebox (October 2014). Their top 10 hits on the related ARIA Singles Chart are "Wishes" (October 1996), "Don't Say Goodbye" (March 1997), "Everytime You Cry" (duet with John Farnham, October 1997), "Don't Cry" (July 1999), "Eternal Flame" (October 1999), "He Don't Love You" (November 2000) and "When You Say You Love Me" (April 2004). Three of their albums received multi-platinum certification from ARIA, and four have received platinum, with a total shipment of over 1.6 million records in Australia, as of April 2011.

The group have toured both nationally and internationally including as a support act for Celine Dion on her Falling Into You Around the World Tour(March 1996, June 1997) and Let's Talk About Love World Tour (1998). They also opened for Michael Jackson on the HIStory World Tour (December 1996, early to mid-1997). At the ARIA Music Awards of 2006 they won Highest Selling Album for Reach Out: The Motown Record. In May 2009 they began a residency performing a Motown-themed show on the Las Vegas Strip and in April 2014 they completed their 1000th show.

7. A1

A1 (stylised as a1) are a British–Norwegian pop group that formed in 1998. The original line-up consists of Paul Marazzi, Christian Ingebrigtsen, Mark Read and Ben Adams. Ingebrigtsen is originally from Oslo, Norway, but the other members originate from London.

Their debut single, "Be the First to Believe", entered the UK Singles Chart at number six in mid-1999. They achieved success in the UK and other parts of the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s, particularly Southeast Asia. In the UK, they scored two number ones and six other top 10 hits, seven of which were written by the band. Adding to this, they also won a BRIT Award for "British Breakthrough Act" in 2001. They were managed by band manager Tim Byrne, who also formed Steps.

Marazzi left the band in 2002, citing personal reasons. The three remaining members subsequently decided to split due to exhaustion from being on the road for the best part of four years straight.

In December 2009, Ingebrigtsen, Read and Adams reformed a1, without Marazzi, in Norway for a series of concerts at the Christiania Theatre in Oslo.[1] Since their comeback, they have released new singles as well as their fourth and fifth studio albums, Waiting for Daylight, in 2010, and Rediscovered, in 2012.

In 2014, a1 appeared on the itv2 documentary The Big Reunion along with other bands such as Eternal, Damage, Girl Thing, 3T and a new band called 5th Story, made up of Dane Bowers (from Another Level), Gareth Gates, Kenzie (from Blazin' Squad), Kavanaand Adam Rickitt.

In 2017, Marazzi met his former bandmates in Newcastle, after the fifteen years of his absence and he will appear in their 20 years anniversary tour.

What happened to them?

As u can none have remained as boy band. Some band disbanded, others went for solo careers. What I meant to say that the success they enjoyed staying together was more compared to solo.

I was never a fan of boy bands. It was like they had been manufactured to sell records without any real depth to them.

No Mercy was put together by the legendary Frank Farian, who was also instrumental in the formation of bands such as Boney M and Milli Vanilli. Many say that the songs were sung and composed by Frank Farian, while the bands only had to lip sync the songs. I always wondered what happened to Westlife, NSync, and 98 Degrees.
