I wonder why Indian writers do not write in pure science fiction genere. Whatever I could ever find on the net are the few books claimed to be under SFF genere, but they mostly tend to be a mythical fantasy. SF has been a very popular read all over the world, including India, but regretfully I do not find any serious writing about. Very sparingly, I find writers like Jayant Narlikar, who evidently being a leading scientist, has tried his hands on writing pure SF. But most of his creations are in Marathi language, and thus not accessible by all. Even translation and publication of these in digital format still remains a dream. SF readers are a big market overall, and I personally feel if more SF is written by Indian authors instead of mythological fiction, they can earn a better spot, recognition and readership in the world.
Phew! .. Rant over!
