So has anyone here tried reading Kindle Unlimited Indian authors? Truth be said I was very skeptical before starting out on these pretty much unknown authors but I have been surprised by a few. Authors like Saiswaroopa Iyer( her works titled Avishi and Abhaya are brilliant), MV Kasi, Manna Bahadur, Mainak Dhar etc have really made me sit up and take note of these writing underdogs.

What's your experience and take on the same??

I think Kindle Unlimited collection has improved only lately. When I tested it out, not many books piqued my interest. I did like a few non fictions though like Hot Tea Across India.

Haven't read the authors you listed. Are these mytho-fics too?

Actually the writers and books that I have put out are basically a mixed lot. Saiswaroopa Iyer's book are both historical and mythological fictions. Her book Avishi, actually explores the story of Vishpala; probably the first recorded instance of prosthetic leg. Abhaya explores the story of Narkasur Vadh. MV Kasi 's books have tones of romance but mostly she writes about the pyschological workings of her protagonists. Although she does have some romance lined out. Mainak Dhar's book is on the very violent topic of terrorism. The quality of Kindle Unlimited has definitely gone up.

MV Kasi's Revenge Games series is a nice and different take on the society's seemingly underdogs. It has overtures of romance, yes, but at large it deals with a different issue. Add to it the protagonist who happens to be a former sex and drug addict. Her recent churnings have well researched psychological perspective to her characters. Yes her initial writings were practically romances, but I have to give her credit for her sharp and crisp writing style.

I checked out the books you listed on Goodreads, and they have sure piqued my interest. Thank you for sharing. Have them up in my TBR.

MV Kasi's books seem to delve on topics that are strictly avoided by authors... child abuse, etc. Most Indian authors write escapist fare. Which book of her do you highly recommend?

As I said, MV Kasi's initial writings have strong dose of romance. Her recent writings though offer a more psychological insights on human behaviour. I would suggest her Revenge Games series. I really loved the way she wrote about the taboo topic of child sex abuse and how far and how deep can that affect a person. I have read a few books on this topic and almost all of them had preconceived pattern of behaviour. Revenge Games was possibly the first that talks about the more gritty reality. Her recent book The Captive is good too with its crisp narrative but wanes towards the second half. I'd say go for the Revenge Games series: Soulless and Ruthless.
