A 95-year-old Oregon man has recovered from coronavirus, much to the delight of generations of his family.

Bill Kelly, a World War II veteran, lives in McMinnville, about 40 miles southwest of Portland, with his granddaughter, her mother, her husband and her 5-year-old and 11-month-old children, according to Oregon Live.

Kelly came down with a fever on March 15 and because of a number of underlying conditions, including kidney disease, a congenital heart condition, high blood pressure, he was hospitalized overnight.

Under normal circumstances, he would not have received a coronavirus test, but his granddaughter’s husband, Issac Etherington, is a medical evacuation pilot who recently flew potential coronavirus patients. While Issac’s test came back negative, Kelly was tested out of an abundance of caution, and his test came back positive on March 17.

he family immediately went into a two-week quarantine at its home and managed to not get sick while keeping in contact with the county health department.
