Help needed to Retrieve the pics from external HDD

I have a Western Digital HDD which is not being detected in any OS.. I even tried mounting in Ubuntu but failed to recognise.
I have lot of pics and videos in it. Any suggestions to recover the data.

Have you tried with another PC or laptop. Have you looked at the device manager for any unrecognised drives?  Have you tried different data cable..


If you tried everything, the HDD may probably  dead. In this case, you need to contact professional data recovery experts.

Assuming your HDD is not physically corrupted, have you tried a little program called 'Ext2 Volume Manager'? I have used it several times to mount Linux and other volumes in windows, that otherwise won't show up.

Use Easy Recovery Essentials for recovering deleted files and folders. Very effective, always works for me.

Use recovery tool, i faced the same. All things are recovered. Google search few and download

I have been through this same ordeal before however, fortunately I could fix it.

I had tried numerous recovery tools on Windows, mouting the drive on linux etc however, nothing worked.

I even enquired with professional data recovery experts, they were charging the mountain and that too, recovery assurance was only 50%.

Since, I had nothing else to lose from a dead WD ext HDD, as a last resort I dismantled the HDD on my own, cleaned the part using Isopropyl alcohol wipes, reattached the HDD, Voila, it started working again. That was I think 3 years before and the HDD is functional even today! Luckky me

If you would like to take a chance and take a risk then only go for dismanting the HDD. You can view numerous vidoes on youtube on how to dismantle and clean external HDDs.

Great... Let me try this too.. as u said.. i i h nothing yo lose with this HD.. experts are charging bomb for this.. ☹️
