This year India overtook France to be the World's sixth largest economy and is well on track to overtake UK as the first largest next year as evident from Q1 GDP growth rate of 8.2% in FY18 which is the highest one clocked in over two years. India is already the third largest economy of the world in terms of GDP PPP estimates.

Agree. Interestingly fertility is falling faster than expected in India, and we are on track to reach replacement levels of fertility as soon as 2020. That is going to be a much needed relief.
The southern states have done a commendable job where the TFR / Total Fertility Rate (the average number of children that will be born to a woman during her lifetime) in eight States has fallen below two children per woman! Poor states like UP & Bihar have much to odo in this repspect though!
