My earliest book memory is Young Children's Encyclopedia. Being read out by my parents, before I could start reading on my own. I moved to Enid Blytons too with Famous Five (we had a DD series too, right?), Five Find Outers, along with Tinkles, Asterix, and Tintins.
@mousetrap: I agree. For those of us who grew up in the pre-liberalisation era, the children section in libraries were dominated by Enid Blytons, and bridged versions of classics appropriate for kids. |
