Reader's block. Book slump. Whatever you call it, it is a phase when you just cannot pick up a book and read it. You just don't feel motivated enough.

Have you experienced reader's block? How do you tackle it? What are your favourite books/genres to overcome it.

Do share.

Yes. I have. I don't know how common it is though. When I face a reader's block, I don't try to push myself by picking something else. I simply don't read in that phase. I watch some piled up TV shows like Bizarre Foods, or some movie I had wanted to see. Or when I don't have access to TV - like in my consulting room waiting in between patients - I play some game. Or solve a cryptic crossword(that is very very refreshing and stimulating!). Eventually the phase passes and I feel like picking up a book.

Me too, I tackle it with read a lot of book review/comment about the book I want to read so I can make a decision to read or not.

If it happens, it happens. That's it. I haven't found a way to tackle it, so I stay away from books and indulge in other hobbies until I want to read again. I like to doodle, write, paint or tidy the bookshelves if nothing else.

Take a break for a couple of days and then start fresh. This is what I do whenever I feel readers' block.

Talk about it. It is such a genuine and frequently visiting problem. I have experienced it so many times. The only thing that I do is I take a break. I deviate my attention towards watching movies or television or web series. That so helps getting over that phase.
