Agatha Christie or also known as the Queen of Mystery is one of my favourite authors.  She was the one who created characters like Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Tommy and Tuppence, Ariadne Oliver, Harley Quin and Parkey Pyne. While she is known for her murder mysteries, she also wrote six romances under the name Mary Westmacott. I have been reading Agatha Christie’s books on and off for a long time.I decided to do it not only on a regular basis but also in an organized fashion. To achieve this, I am embarking on a reading challenge titled Agatha Christie Reading Challenge.

I am not the first one who is going to take this challenge. In fact, a number of other people are in the midst of perpetual Agatha Christie reading challenges. While some are trying to read her books in order of the publications, some are just reading their way through her works in a random manner. I am also going to read Christie’s book randomly. Every so often, I’ll go ahead and read an Agatha Christie book and record my thoughts. Additionally, as the number of books is quite large, I am not setting any deadline to finish this challenge. Furthermore, this challenge will not confine to only reading and reviewing Christie’s books. On the other hand, this challenge will try to explore the multifaceted personality of Agatha Christie. This challenge, in a way, will try to explore Agatha not only as a writer but also as a person. Through this challenge, I will try to learn about her development as a writer, development of her characters, and so on.

So, how many Christie books have you read so far. And, is there anyone to take this challenge with me?

I might have read 20 - 30 of her books, and most of them during my school days. Some books like 'Crooked House', 'Hercule Poirot's Christmas' , 'Body in the Library' and 'Endless Night' still remain perfectly etched in memory. I remember being absolutely stunned when the murderer was revealed in Hercule Poirot's Christmas. It was completely unexpected... Agatha Christie is such a genius!

I'm usually rubbish at remembering anything I've read after a few days, but I think these books were impressive enough to remain in memory after so many years.

I'd love to take up the Christie challenge, except that I have many, many other books I want to read. I could maybe attempt one book a month.

I too must have read most of the Hercule Poirot series, very few Miss Marple and none of the rest. But like @Mousetrap I too have many books lined up to read so I don't know if I'll be able to do it. May be a book or 2 every 6 months!

I've read 23 Hercule Poirot series (my favorite is Sad Cypress), some stand alone novels (my favorite is And Then There Were None) and some another series like Superintendent Battle series (my favorite is Murder is Easy).
I want to read the other series and stand alone novels which I haven't read, but for now I have another books that interested me... so I think I can't take this challenge... I'm so sorry.

I just remembered I had also read some non-Poirot books like And Then There Were None - brilliant.

And then there was one book which was written by 14 authors - all members of the Detection Club, one of them being Agatha Christie - The Floating Admiral. It was published much later. Each author after completing his/her chapter, would give the script to the next who must write the chapter after reading what had happened so far. No one knew where the story was going but there were rules like that author must contribute to the story moving forward and not create a mess of confusion by introducing new characters etc. It was quite interesting. I'll see if an eBook is available.
