For now I have stopped getting physical books since Kindle for almost 5 yrs now

But I have atleast 300+ books in paperback, mostly purchased at Mumbai next to the VT station

And Have around 30 GB worth of virtual ones. May be in thousands. Will never be able to finish them all. Not even half of them. But anything good, I download it greedily with a thought that maybe one day I'll read it.

Would definitely like to know what others do. Am I normal or its weird to hoard the books like this

I do that too. I guess it's too tempting to download books that I might get around reading soemtime in the future.

It happens to me too.
I have about 400+ in physical and 1.5GB (250+) in digital.

Half of my physical collection, I got from my cousin. It's been 7 years when I got it and until now I've read about 150+. And the rest, I won't read it because I don't like it or it's not my favorite genre.

The other halves, mostly I buy it from book fair because the price is 70%-90% discounted so I just bought it without thinking when to have time to read them all. After I buy the books, I just put them in bookshelves and will read it if I have time... (Usually I'll read it 1-2 years after)

For the digital collection, until now I have read 50+. I'm getting tired easily when read in digital (just 1-2 hours for a day), it's really different when I read in physical (I can read all day long, as long as the story is very interesting to read). That's why it slow me down to read in digital.

It must to finish read them all in my lifetime! Or I'll be curious for the rest of my entire lifetime...

Count me in the Hoarders club i used to buy at least 3 -4 books every month on my own ; add to it donations from my relatives and friend which took my paperback book collection to around 200 ( Been a long time since i have counted them). But it leads to storage problems so i have stopped buying physical books now.My digital collection is 12 GB worth of books and i keep on dreaming that will be able to read them one day.

*raises hand*

I have about 2GB of virtual books and 206 physical ones. Since a couple of years I am buying only those books in paperback format which I really enjoyed in virtual copies. It has allowed me to save a lot of money too.

About finishing them all in this lifetime, well it seems like a daunting task.

In the age of no-eBook-readers, I used to buy paperbacks/hardcovers, but carefully. Had to spend na! The collection grew over time to more than 700 books. Finally, when I changed my residence, I donated all the books to a local library. I still have about 100+ physical books.

Arrive the age of eBook readers, and there has been no stopping since I discovered places where I could download eBooks for free! I might like this one, i might read that one when I have the mood, or this one can give me some tips in my Excel workbook/Photoshop post-processing etc. And I have ended up having about 7 GB + of eBooks. Whether I'll be reading them all is a different matter altogether!!
So yes, guilty as charged!

Story of our lives. Too many books... too little time.

I have around 200+ print copies, most of which I have read (mighty proud of that ).  I prefer book fairs too. I am rather particular about purchasing only those print books that I am genuinely interested in reading.

And thanks to sites like UCWeb and Craxme, around 3 GB worth of e-books and growing. I doubt I would be able to read all of them.

Let us assume that an average eBook is about 1 MB in size(some are 300 KB and some are 3+MB). And not all books can be read in a day. So assume one can read one eBook in 3 days. That's about 121 MB a year on an average. Assume your reading life span to be 50 years, Which brings the total to 6050 MB which translates to about 5.9 GB. So feel good guys, as long as your hoarding doesn't exceed the 6 GB mark and you stop adding more books, you can finish reading all!!!

My major collection is of medical books which tend to be much heavier... Some almost 300-350 MB. So yeah Maybe.
So thats what made my 30 GB and I was wondering maybe I am the biggest hoarder.
