• Turn on the flight mode on your phone.
• Read the whatsapp message
• Now, turn on the flight mode again.

• Turn the flight mode on.

How to know When he or she read your message1 – Just go to the conversation chat window of whatsapp and keep the message pressed for few seconds.

How to know When he or she read your message1 – Just go to the conversation chat window of whatsapp and keep the message pressed for few seconds.
2 – On the top right, just click on three vertical dots.
3 – Finally , click on Info.

On my WhatsApp 2.18.191 for Android, there are no three vertical dots on selecting a message. Instead, on selecting a message, an icon appears at the top bar, a circle with an 'i' inside which leads to the same info.

Nice to know this is possible. In fact this may even have implications in legal disputes in Courts of law, since some Courts in India have now started accepting the 'blue tick' as proof of delivery of correspondence (legal processes, to be precise) to a party to dispute.
